An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver and blown glass ink bottle made by Horace Woodward
Co; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection.
This exceptional antique Victorian glass and sterling silver ink bottle has a circular rounded, shaped form.
This Victorian ink bottle is fitted with the original hallmarked silver cylindrical mount to the upper portion, encircled with a cast and applied band of oval motifs.
The mount is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover, featuring a subtly concave upper plateau and encompassed with an applied egg decorated to the rim.
The cover opens to reveal a circular sunken well and removable glass ink liner.
The exceptional body of the antique ink bottle is embellished with impressive blown glass ornamentation in a lobed, fluted design.
Condition
This antique Victorian ink bottle is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The ink bottle mount and cover has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The cast and applied decoration is all very sharp. The glass ink bottle is in perfect condition. Full hallmarks struck to the stand bottle mounts, in addition to part to the interior of the ink bottle cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
