An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique George V English sterling silver photograph frames made by Joseph Gloster Ltd; an addition to our silver mounted glass collection. These exceptional antique George V English sterling silver photograph frames have a rounded shaped form with a plain oval window. The surface of each silver frame is embellished with impressive bright cut engraved scrolling floral decoration to the sides, conjoined by a simplistic leaf festoon to the lower portion. The domed upper portion of each frame incorporates a shaped vacant cartouche accented with simplified stemmed floral design emenating from each side. These frames are fitted with the original painted wood backs and hinged struts, each secured with a silver swivel catches. A fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver photograph frame, an addition to our diverse ornamental collection. This fine antique sterling silver photograph frame has a rounded, subtly waisted shaped form with an oval internal window. The plain body of this Edwardian frame is encompassed with a paralleling embossed border accented with scrolling leaf and floral motif ornamentation to the upper portion. The rim of the internal window is embellished with a further plain embossed border. This frame retains the original oak wood back and hinged strut, securing with a swivel catch. A magnificent magnifying glass by the creme de la creme of English retailer's, Asprey of Bond Street, London. The silver is fully hallmarked for London 1928 together with the maker's mark W.M. The silver is also signed "Asprey London". Excellent antique condition with minor wear commensurate with age measuring 7 3/4" x 3 5/8" x 5/8". A slight wobble to the magnifier due to the traditional pinned construction rather than glued, mentioned purely for accuracy. The handle is made from polished Shagreen, a leather made from sharkskin or the skin of a Stingray. This type of Shagreen was first made popular by Jean-Claude Galluchat (d1774) a master leather worker in the Court of Louis XV in France. It became a fashion amongst the French aristocracy and later throughout Europe. Shagreen is derived from the French word “Chagrin”. An exceptional, fine and impressive, unusual antique George V English sterling silver Art Deco presentation trophy in the form of dartboard; part of our silverware collection. This exceptional and unusual antique sterling silver trophy has been crafted in the form of a Yorkshire or Kent doubles dartboard*. The face of the dartboard clearly depicts the appropriately numbered segments and the wirework spider. This fine George V trophy is supported by an ebonised wood mount and an Art Deco style angular ebonised wooden base. The base displays six hallmarked vacant presentation plaques; each plaque may be engraved with a personal inscription if so desired. The posterior surface of the wooden mount is plain. * This variation of dart board does not incorporate a triple ring, only the double and bullseye. This exceptional antique George V English sterling silver inkwell has a hexagonal shaped, waisted form. The shaped surface of this impressive antique inkwell is plain and unembellished, with applied iconic Art Deco style tiered designs to the either side of the base.
