Art Deco bronze (Seated woman) artist Joe Descomps (1869-1950) Origin France silver and gilded Onix marble base possible missing - rod with three birds. Emmanuel-Jules-Joseph Descomps, known as Joé Descomps or Descomps-Cormier, is a French sculptor and goldsmith, born January 18, 1869 in Clermont-Ferrand and died April 24, 1950 in Paris. Biography Sculptor, engraver, master goldsmith, Joé Descomps is a student of Louis-Auguste Hiolin and Alexandre Falguière 1. He was present at the Chicago Exposition of 1893. He works with Frédéric Boucheron. He was a member of the French Artists since 1883 and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes français from 1891 to 1937; mention in 1898, third medal in 1921, second in 1925, first in 1928. In 1911, a small terracotta statuette signed by him was offered to subscribers of Félix Juven's publications. He was named knight of the Legion of Honor by decree of April 3, 19292. His workshop was located in La Charité-sur-Loire
