About the Item
This antique paper binding press was forged in France, circa 1860. The Classic "Presse a Relier" made of solid iron is almost square in shape and features scrolled decor on the facade; the sides, with elegant acanthus leaf decor in high relief, are connected to the manual screw controlled by a wide top handle. This heavy tool is in very good working order for thick books, and adorns a rich patinated rust and red painted finish. Decorate a shelf with this wonderful accessory in a study or library! In the old days, this kind of "Presses a Papier" were used to press the book's sheets together before receiving a bookbinding. Book included.

Early 20th Century French Peugeot Frères Cast Iron Coffee Grinder, Model A
Located in Dallas, TX
This authentic early 20th-century coffee grinder was crafted in France by Peugeot Frères, renowned for their exceptional cast iron mills long before they became famous for automobiles. Stamped with the original oval brass badge reading “Peugeot Frères, Valentigney (Doubs)”, this piece was produced in the company’s historic foundry in eastern France.
The cast iron body features deeply embossed lettering: “Peugeot Frères Brevetés S.G.D.G.”, a French patent mark meaning “Patented Without Government Guarantee,” used between 1844 and 1968. The top grinding chamber is enclosed by a domed lid, while the open bevel gear mechanism is powered by a curved crank fitted with a worn, turned wood handle. Below, a single walnut drawer in warm hardwood collects the freshly ground coffee, accented by a decorative turned knob.
With its crisp castings, sculptural industrial form, and rich patina, this antique Peugeot...

French Cast Iron and Wood Coffee Grinder with Crank and Drawer, Dated 1901
Located in Dallas, TX
Crafted in France in the early 20th century and dated 1901, this large-scale cast iron coffee grinder combines functional design with rustic charm. The piece features a deep cast iron hopper over a stepped wooden base with a single drawer, used for collecting freshly ground coffee. A turned wooden handle operates the crank mechanism, which engages visible iron gears for a tactile and mechanical presence.
Marked “PAT’D 1901” and adorned with decorative relief motifs at each corner, the base showcases fine French detailing in its cast work. The interior is lined in white ceramic, and the entire piece rests solidly on a framed plinth in warm-toned wood that complements the matte black patina of the iron.
An excellent example of French utilitarian design with sculptural appeal, this antique grinder...
