About the Item

Mid-19th century Murano "chalcedony glass" paperweight. By Lorenzo Radi Sr. or one of his followers. Handblown. Chalcedony originated among the Romans Egyptians, was rediscovered in the 15th century in Murano, lost again until Radi with Salviati rediscovered the process in the mid-19th century. Reproducing chalcedony agates, the glass is all opaque uses many minerals and metals for color. Tiny original indentation bubble. 3.38" dia. x 3.13" h.
