About the Item
Privately commissioned in 1977, this studio art glass paperweight by Paul Stankard is titled Daylily and features a finely detailed daylily arranged with cranberry branches and buds. The botanical elements are meticulously lampworked and suspended within a clear spherical form, creating depth, movement, and exceptional realism.
A beautiful early example of Stankard’s work, the composition reflects his mastery of botanical glass and his role as a leading figure in the contemporary paperweight movement. Both sculptural and refined, this piece is highly desirable to collectors of studio glass and Paul Stankard’s early commissioned works. Includes personalized hand written note with description of the commission. Signed and dated. Original presentation box.

“What Walt Whitman did with words, I seek to do in glass on a visual level. My passion is to articulate fresh information celebrating nature through glass art. My work is driven by a respect for living things and truth to the organic mysteries of the plant kingdom.” – paulstankard.com
