About the Item

Jean Claude Dresse / Pierre Giraudon Inclusion of Pearl Oyster Shell Vide Poche - 1970s - Belgium - decoration Measures : 13.5cmx13.5cm H:5cm Materials : Epoxy - Pearl Oyster Shell Pierre Giraudon was born in 1923. In the 1940s, while working as a biologist in Canada, he was the first to use his own invention to embed plants, animals, and other materials in resin for academic purposes. He returned to France in 1949, began working with the material for pleasure, and added his own artistic touches. As he mastered the material more and more, he gradually adapted it to create works of art. During the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, he created sculptures, lamp bases, and objects in colored resin with or without inclusions. Alongside his personal creations, he worked for César. However, Giraudon always refused to be called an artist because he considered himself, above all, a biologist. He died in 2012.
