Stunning classic Glass APPLE by Hanne Dreutler for Studio Åhus from 1992. Beautiful, vibrant light green and clear glass made in sommerso technique that originated in Murano, Italy. This piece is in excellent vintage condition - only minor signs of wear from normal us. Signed/numbered by artist on bottom.
The bright, luminous colors add dynamics to this heavy, substantial piece. The apple is clearly signed with engraved "Studio Ahus Sweden 1992 HD-AZ..." on the bottom. In excellent condition.
Studio Åhus was founded in 1977 by Hanne Dreutler (1942-2009) and Arthur Zirnsack. Hanne Dreutler worked at Målerås and Flygsfors glassworks in 1968-1971 before moving to Kosta Boda in 1971-1975 and meeting Zirnsack there; at Kosta Boda they both worked under Vicke Lindstrand. They married and started their own studio in Ahus in southeast of Sweden; Lindstrand worked at Åhus after retirement from Kosta Boda. Currently Studio Åhus is run by Hanne and Arthur's son Martin Zirnsack and glass artist Lennart Nissmark.

About Ingeborg Lundin:
Ingeborg Lundin was a Swedish glass artist, whose 1950s and 60s designs are among the most influential of that era. Lundin got her education at Konstfack in Stockholm and started working at Orrefors directly after her graduation in 1947. She stayed at Orrefors until 1971, redefining the art of glass design with her pure, gracious, sometimes ethereal creations. Ingeborg Lundin received the Lunning prize in 1954 and a gold medal at the Milano Triennale in 1957.
