A fine antique Swiss silver gilt & guilloched enamel miniature carriage clock, retailed by Birks of Montreal, Circa 1910, just fully cleaned & overhaul by a professional clocksmith.
The clock having a silver gilt case with guilloched enamel decoration, the rare & unusual decoration inspired by the architecture of the Alhambra and Moorish Spain, in the form of long mihrab shaped windows punctuated with circular white enameled 'jewels'. The base with a frieze of silver gilt spheres and the clock is raised on a striated agate base.
The white enameled dial having black Arabic numerals & gold hands and is signed "Birks", for the famous Montreal retailer who sold luxury jewelery & timepieces. The clock having a seven day 15 jeweled lever mechanism, the clock is identical to others made for Cartier in Geneva and had been marked with "Birks" name as they were the retailers of this clock.
The clock is stamped to the rear "Sterling" & "Argent" & 0.935, Geneva assay mark '935'. The clock was most likely designed by Maurice Coüet who designed clocks for both Cartier & The Geneva Clock Co. The clock is stamped with the "JTC" mark in a cartouche.
Condition is excellent, the clock has been just been professionally cleaned & overhauled and works perfectly, key is present. A very elegant & rare antique miniature clock...

Over the years we have had the pleasure of owning and selling a number of beautiful Black Forest antiques, but never did we come accross a 19th century Black Forest clock with musical box of this size and with such amazing natural details and patina AND with the original clock and music box inside. And if that was not enough, this finest of Black Forest clocks is top quality carved from top to bottom in the form of a detailed Swiss chalet. Mind you, this very rare antique clock is entirely hand carved out of nutwood only, which is another sign of the quality of the workmanship and the richness of materials. We have added a large variety of photos so that you can see the many incredibly detailed parts of this Swiss chalet, such as the roof and chimney, the many doors, the stacked lumber outside, the doghouse, the outhouse on the side, the striking balconies, the goose sticking its head out through the balcony, the picked fence, the ladder going up to the barn loft, the clock inside the facade of the house, the music box cilinder in the base etc etc. This antique clock from the 1800s really comes with the most realistically carved chalet house you will ever see. Copper Metal Enamel Modern Vessels Abstract Design by Harold Tishler 1950s

Two Modern abstract design small Copper Enamel Vessels by Harold Tishler from the 1950s. One in white enameling in relief over shiny copper background with some gray colored streaks throughout and turquoise glaze inside. Signed inside bottom H. Tishler. The second vessel/cup, was rendered with a thickly applied dark gray enameling fading into a very light gray towards the top on a bright copper background. The inside dark blue enamel. This cup is not signed.
Measurements: 2 1/2 inches diameter x 2 3/8 inches high.
Condition: The white vase has some gray colored streaks that are intentional. Both vases have some very small flakes around the inside of rim. The white/copper vase has some minor crackle of the enamel in two areas. Please look at all images and view our other Tishler creations.
Harold Tishler (1893, Odessa – 1993, Florida) Studied engineering in 1910 at University of Grenoble but did not finished his studies and moved to New York 1913. During WWI, he joined the Merchant Marines and while visiting Japan was introduced to the art of Cloisonne enameling. In 1927, Tishler went to Vienna to study under Josef Hoffmann. Upon his return to NYC in 1932, he began producing copper and silver enamels that were sold at high-end stores.
In 1935, Tishler visited a fellow student from the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna, Edward Winter in Cleveland. Tishler was impressed by Winter’s enameling...
