The Samuel Alcock factory was operative in Staffordshire between 1822 and 1856, after which it was bought by Sir James Duke and Nephews. The factory started as a partnership between the young Samuel Alcock and the older Ralph Stevenson, who provided the factory and capital. Alcock quickly took the factory to great heights, building one of the biggest factories of its time. Alcock jumped on the new Rococo Revival fashion and served a huge new middle class market. While the original Warwick Vase is a colossal 6ft high, these replicas are scale at just 40cm tall, bringing prestige to an interior placed on a console, column or sideboard. This exceptional 18 carat yellow gold antique scent bottle has a has a plain flask shaped form.
This antique opalesque glass scent bottle is fitted with a fine and impressive yellow gold cylindrical collar and domed hinged cover, which opens to reveal the original push fit glass stopper.
The rim of the collar, cover and mounted foot are embellished with impressive leaf designs.
The surface of the cover is ornamented with impressive scrolling leaf decoration on a matte background, incorporating quatrefoil shaped floral motifs comprised of four collet set green-coloured hardstones.
Each quatrefoil shaped design is embellished with a collet set cabochon cut ruby to the centre, totalling 0.08ct.
The domed upper portion of the cover is further ornamented with an impressive scrolling leaf bordered floral design, comprised of five collet set green hardstone petals with an impressive 0.43ct round faceted cut garnet to the centre, collet set in relief.
