Raphael (Raffaello Santi, 1483–1520) was a dominant Italian Renaissance painter and architect, known for his harmonious style and prolific output in his short life. He began his career in his native Urbino before moving to Florence and then to Rome in 1508, where he worked for Pope Julius II. His most famous works include the frescos in the Vatican's Raphael Rooms and the painting The School of Athens. He also became the chief architect of St. Peter's Basilica in 1514 and was respected for his versatility in various art forms
Andrea del Sarto (1486–1530) was a highly influential Florentine painter whose career spanned the High Renaissance and early Mannerist periods. Though his fame was eclipsed after his death by his contemporaries Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael, he was celebrated during his lifetime as an artist senza errori ("without errors") for his technical mastery.
