About the Item
A British sterling silver photograph frame, fully hallmarked for London, 1990, with maker’s mark for Carrs of Sheffield. The rectangular surround is worked in alternating diagonally fluted panels and raised beading, a design that borrows from late Regency and early Victorian silversmithing, yet executed here with crisp modern precision. Centered at the crest is an oval reserve—smooth, unengraved, and subtly domed—intended for monogramming, inscription, or armorial engraving if desired.
The frame retains its original dark velvet backing and hinged easel, the construction allowing for horizontal display with a secure, well-balanced stance. The silver retains a pleasing reflective surface with gentle patina, enhancing the depth of the decorative molding.
