About the Item
Bolognese Italian Carved And Gilded Antique Cornice from 1600 in good condition. Rectangular in shape, it is suitable for a painting or for framing a mirror. The frame is been re-dyed in pure gold leaf in the 1800s, and in the back, the rebate was increased to accommodate a larger painting. Moreover, the back reveals an old stamp of the ownership of a Bolognese palace. Ideal for a mirror that can be oriented either way, horizontally or vertically, or as a frame for a painting.
Origin: Emilia Romagna c. 1650.
