About the Item
Monumental geometric sculpture attributed to André Volten, one of the Netherlands' most significant postwar sculptors and co-founder of Liga Nieuw Beelden. The piece exemplifies Volten's exploration of constructivist principles through three rectangular frames arranged in a dynamic vertical composition. Fabricated from brushed stainless steel, the material Volten began working with extensively in the late 1960s, the sculpture demonstrates his interest in spatial relationships and industrial materials.
Volten's works reside in prestigious collections including the Kröller-Müller Museum, the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg, and the Kunsthalle Mannheim. His career focused on the role of art in public space, producing numerous monumental works throughout the Netherlands and internationally. The geometric frames are connected by cylindrical support elements, creating an architectural quality that engages with the surrounding space.
