Michel Hirlet
A striking hand-built ceramic sculpture by the celebrated French duo Andrée and Michel Hirlet, known for their harmonious collaboration and sculptural approach to ceramic form.
Created in France in the early 1970s, this abstract work exemplifies the Hirlets’ mastery of architectural volume and textured glaze. The piece features a deep emerald green glaze with subtle speckles and tonal variations, emphasizing its organic geometry and tactile surface. Carved and incised details suggest symbolic or anthropomorphic motifs, while the reverse bears the Hirlets’ characteristic incised markings and signature stamp on the base.
Both artists have worked side by side in Paris since the early 1960s, developing a unified visual language that merges sculpture, architecture, and material experimentation.
