About the Item
A rare American Modern cast and hot sculpted glass “Cityscape” sculpture by, Cuban born glass artist José Chardiet decorated as a three dimensional building finished in colors of blue, orange, red, and clear colors throughout. The sculpture is an early example of the artists career and is signed on the bottom “CHARDIET 87”

Biography:
Glass artist José Chardiet was born in Havana, Cuba in 1956. At the age of four, his family emigrated from Cuba to the United States, settling in New Haven, Connecticut. Chardiet was introduced to glass as an art form while at Southern Connecticut State University, where he received his B.A. in 1980. He went on to continue his glass studies at Kent State University, where he earned his M.F.A. in 1983.
Jose’s teaching experience includes the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, 1990-2000, where he rose to the rank of full-professor. In addition, he has taught workshops at the Pilchuck Glass School, Stanwood, WA, Penland School of Crafts, Penland, NC and the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Isle, ME, where he taught and served on the Board of Directors.
Chardiet has exhibited his sculpture internationally. He is in notable museum collections, including the American Craft Museum, NY, NY, the Alexander Tutsek Foundation, Munich, Germany, the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY, the Detroit Institute of Art, Detroit, MI, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Montreal, Canada, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Lausanne, Switzerland, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA, the Yokohama Museum of Art, Yokohama, Japan and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC.
From 2000 until 2013, José ran his own glass studio in Providence, RI. He moved Carbondale, CO in early 2014 and has been producing his work there ever since.

Biography:
Camille Faurè produced designs for Limoges, long famed for its enamels Born in Perigueux in 1872, he spent a long apprenticeship before setting up his own workshop at Limoges, where he worked for over fifty years. Fauré became Limoges most famous and talented enamel artist. He exhibited in the 1925 International Exhibition in Paris that gave name to Art Deco.
