Biographie d'Aristidis Patsoglou (né en 1941) :
Né sur l’île de Lesbos en 1941, Aristidis Patsoglou débute son apprentissage artistique entre 1962 et 1965, prenant des cours de dessin et de peinture avec le sculpteur Thanassis Apartis. Il poursuit ensuite ses études à l’École des Beaux-Arts d’Athènes, dans l’atelier de Yiannis Pappas, où il obtient son diplôme en 1969.
Il s’installe ensuite à Paris, où il continue sa formation à l’École des Beaux-Arts (1970-1974) en sculpture avec César et René Collamarini, et en gravure avec Robert Cami et Jacques Lagrange. Il complète également sa formation à l’Université Paris VIII (1974-1979), étudiant les arts visuels, la science de l’art et les techniques audiovisuelles.
Son style fusionne les tendances internationales avec les influences antiques grecques, dans une approche expressionniste. Son travail se concentre sur la figure humaine, le corps nu et le mouvement, souvent imprégnés de thématiques mythologiques ou historiques. Il met en valeur le potentiel expressif des matériaux, laissant visibles les traces de fabrication.
Ses œuvres monumentales explorent les relations entre sculpture, espace et lumière.
En parallèle, Patsoglou travaille aussi la peinture et la gravure, mêlant figuratifs et abstraits. Dans ses lithographies, gravures sur bois et peintures, les tons gris et blancs jouent un rôle essentiel.
Il a exposé ses œuvres à travers l’Europe, participant à plus de quarante expositions personnelles et de nombreuses expositions collectives. Il a reçu le Grand Prix d'Arts Plastiques Jeunes du Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon en 1975 et la Médaille d'Or de la Société des Artistes Français en 1976.

Biography of Aristidis Patsoglou (born 1941):
Born on the island of Lesbos in 1941, Aristidis Patsoglou began his artistic training between 1962 and 1965, taking drawing and painting lessons with sculptor Thanassis Apartis. He continued his studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts, training under Yiannis Pappas, and graduated in 1969.
He later moved to Paris, where he pursued further studies at the École des Beaux-Arts (1970-1974), specializing in sculpture under César and René Collamarini, and engraving with Robert Cami and Jacques Lagrange.
Between 1974 and 1979, he expanded his expertise at Université Paris VIII, studying visual arts, art science, and audiovisual techniques.
Patsoglou’s style merges international trends with ancient Greek influences, executed in an expressionist manner. His work is anthropocentric, emphasizing the human form, the nude body, and movement, often incorporating mythological or historical themes. He focuses on the expressive potential of his materials, leaving visible traces of the fabrication process. In his large-scale sculptures, he explores the relationship between form, space, and light.
Beyond sculpture, Patsoglou is also active in painting and engraving, blending representational and abstract elements. His lithographs, woodcuts, and paintings prominently feature gray and white tones.
He has exhibited extensively across Europe, with over forty solo exhibitions and participation in numerous group exhibitions. Among his awards:
