Aniana Heras is a Spanish ceramic sculptor based in Berlin. Born in the countryside of Sigüenza (Guadalajara, Spain) and trained in arts and design in Madrid and Barcelona, she spent over 15 years working as a digital designer before turning to clay in 2022. What began as an experiment quickly became a vital, physical, and meditative practice—an anchor to presence and a way to reconnect with the material world. Largely self-taught, Heras has developed a body of work that is both earthy and conceptually rich. Her handmade, one-of-a-kind sculptures often arise from improvisation, guided by the act of making itself. Through her practice, she explores ideas of timelessness, balance, and contrast—tradition versus innovation, function versus form. Her pieces challenge both material and meaning, drawing inspiration from traditional Spanish pottery, contemporary sculpture, architecture, and design.
