About the Item
A Batak architectural carved-wood house panel from Northern Sumatra (Sumatera Utara) in the Indonesian Malay archipelago. This vintage carved house fragment from the Batak peoples of Northern Sumatra (Sumatra, Indonesia being the 2nd largest of the Greater Sunda Islands), has a spade-shaped appearance atop a head at base, which has been meticulously hand-carved out of tropical hardwood, and retains it's original black and red finish. It is presented on a custom black iron stand, giving an overall height of over 8 feet tall. This Batak architectural house fragment makes a fabulous decorative conversation piece with great height, while adding rich texture and warmth.
