Fragment of the Earth is a hand-built ceramic sculpture by French artist Audrey Vo Van, shaped in black chamotte stoneware. The piece combines smooth, rounded contours with a deeply textured base, evoking the layered memory of geological formations.
Its form suggests a natural fragment — part seed, part rock — carrying both the softness of erosion and the strength of the material it emerged from. Built slowly using the coil technique, the sculpture retains the traces of the artist’s hands and the rhythm of its making. The contrast between the polished upper surface and the rough, stratified lower part reflects the dialogue between fragility and resilience that defines Vo Van’s practice.
