About the Item
Erosion’s Memory I is a hand-built ceramic sculpture by French artist Audrey Vo Van, shaped from natural chamotte stoneware. Its form, both grounded and ascendant, evokes a geological fragment : a landscape eroded by time and weather, yet still carrying traces of vitality.
The surface alternates between smooth, softly burnished areas and rough, torn textures reminiscent of wind-sculpted rock. Built using the coil technique, the sculpture bears the memory of every gesture and compression of the hand.
With its pale, sandy tones and organic asymmetry, the piece explores the delicate interplay between permanence and transformation. Part of Vo Van’s Erosion’s Memory series, this work captures the silent poetry of natural forces and the passage of time embodied in clay.
