About the Item
'Kelp in Ocean Blue
Sea Green' is a unique handblown and sculpted glass artwork by the Danish and British artists, Hanne Enemark
Louis Thompson.
The outer glass form contains a multitude of fine canes of glass. Before the piece is finished, these are passed through a small hole in the top of the artwork as straight lengths, allowing them to drop into the void below. Further heating and turning the piece, cause these to soften and lose their rigid appearance. The top aperture is closed over, finishing the artwork.
Since studying simultaneously at the Royal College of Art in 2008, Hanne Enemark and Louis Thompson have worked together successfully on a number of commissions and personal projects, becoming increasingly aware of a common interest in the tension between chaos and order, fragility and strength, internal structure and external form.
They have found that taking a more intuitive and performative approach not only results in a magical spectacle but in sculptures that embody their passion for this material with integrity and freshness.
Whilst making these pieces Enemark and Thompson were struck by how the pieces powerfully expressed their creative intent and directly seized upon the drama of the heat of the moment, an intuitive and exciting dialogue between the material and the action of making. They are intrigued by how these intricate, internal fragile structures contradict the calm skin and surface of the glass form that encapsulates this magical and energetic inner world.
Having exhibited extensively around the globe, Enemark
Thompson have artworks in the permanent collections of the Novotny Glass Museum, Novy Bor, Czech Republic and the Boda Glass Factory, Glasbruk, Sweden. In 2016 Enemark and Thompson took part in a 5 day residency at the Museum of Glass, Tacoma, USA.

Wave Lounge by Eduard Locota. Turquoise-Blue Acrylic Glass Sculptural Design
By Eduard Locota
Located in Timisoara, RO
Once upon a time, in the middle of the Ocean, on a very still day, while the sun was shining, a wave has appeared. Why did the wave appear exactly at that place and time? Nobody knows.
What we know for centuries, is that the Ocean is never still, and always has waves at the horizon. We know that a wave is only energy. Energy transmitted through particles of water, causing it to swirl into an endless circular motion. And if not obstructed, waves have the potential to travel across an entire ocean basin.
The story of the Wave Lounge was born once upon a time, while gazing at the never-ending blue horizon. Inspired by the vast energy of the wind and sea strongly colliding together, the idea of this monolithic functional sculpture was thus born.
The concept
As a piece of the Ocean, a strong presence of mass was needed in the style of Wave Lounge. The twist of a wave near braking point, encapsulated in time, that will completely charm the viewer’s eyes.
With a total neglect for traditional design, this fully functional design piece will undoubtedly generate emotions. Be prepared to take a large slice of wave right into your home.
Build process
Build fully by hand, with acrylic glass as a primary material. For each piece, literally over 200 Kg of material was used for this monolithic functional artwork. it is necessary to pour over 60 colored layers of liquid acrylic...
