Latência is conceived as suspended time—the interval between impulse and gesture.
Developed within Otávio Motta’s First Movement, the work investigates energy in repose: a tension held inside matter, where presence replaces eruption and restraint becomes a form of intensity.
A tall, rectilinear body in welded, patinated steel carries a surface that appears subtly pressured from within—quiet swelling and compression that suggest an event that does not break through, yet remains imminent. The sculpture’s language is minimal and structural: weight, silence, and the density of the interval.
Hand-fabricated in the studio through welded steel construction and controlled patination/oxidation, the piece is finished and sealed to preserve the surface character. Latência is offered as a unique work (1/1), fabricated upon acquisition, and will not be reproduced or editioned. Lead time is 6–8 weeks. It is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Otávio Motta
Otávio Motta is a Brazilian contemporary sculptor active in both Brazil and the international art scene. His practice centers on the investigation of material as a sensitive, expressive entity, exploring how physical matter can hold, transmit, and respond to forces such as memory, perception, and presence.
Motta’s work fuses natural wood, metal, resin, and industrial elements, merging precise craftsmanship with conceptual research.
