Exceptional, unique
one of a kind marked / signed masterwork stoneware pottery 'Sphere' by British artist Maggie Barnes, circa 1983. This is a relatively early work by the Artist and just extraordinary. sculpted in dark, anthracite (black/grey) stoneware as a round ball or sphere with overlaid warm travertine/limescale coloured porcelain patches with delicately carved out or pierced porcelain center holes. It's a mysterious, organic piece which, at first glance, seems simple and elegant at first but, when you start to study it more, the complexity and shear technical ability of the piece will have you gazing in wonder as to how this was produced.
