About the Item
Exceptional unique marked / signed masterwork artisan hand carved art pottery by British ceramic / clay / stoneware master-craft artist Maggie Barnes, circa 1987. This piece represents the early middle point of her career and just extraordinary. It's a mysterious, organic piece which, at first glance, seems simple and elegant but, when you start to study it more, the complexity and shear technical ability of the piece will have you gazing in wonder as to how this was produced. It reminds one of walking along the beach and 'combing' for treasures - and finding sea-worn cuttlefish along the way - of course, this large bowl, has another worldly feel.
A very rare piece to come across indeed as the artist did not produce in great numbers and most belong in Museums
private collections.
