About the Item

A sculptural silver-plated metal "Jug" and matching plate designed by Massimo Iosa Ghini for Argenteria Merano. Produced for Design Gallery Milan in 1989. Maker's mark on underside. A dynamic, architectural silhouette that merges fluid curvature and angular precision - hallmarks of Iosa Ghini's distinctive style. The jug's aerodynamic form evokes motion and futurism. Both functional and sculptural, this object embodies the innovative craftsmanship and conceptual sophistication that defined Milan's avant-garde design scene of the era. This object exemplifies late-1980s Italian postmodern design. Provenance: From a substantial Memphis Milano collection in Franklin, Michigan; acquired circa 1990s. Dimensions: 11"h x 13"w x 13"d (with plate). In very good vintage condition. Full condition reports available upon request. Massimo Iosa Ghini (b. 1959) is an acclaimed Italian architect and designer recognized as a leading figure of the Bolidism movement and an early member of the Memphis Group. Educated at the Politecnico di Milano, his multidisciplinary work spans architecture, product design, and interior design. He has created projects for major international brands including Moroso, Ferrari, Cassina, and Fiat, and his architectural firm, Iosa Ghini Associati, has completed high-profile commissions worldwide. Iosa Ghini's work has been exhibited at the Triennale di Milano, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Celebrated for his synthesis of technology, dynamism, and form, he has received numerous design honors including the Good Design Award, Red Dot Award, and Compasso d'Oro mention, establishing him as one of Italy's most innovative postmodern and contemporary designers.
