About the Item

Matéria que Sente is a contemporary sculptural work by Brazilian artist Otávio Motta, created as a one-of-a-kind, made-to-order artwork. The piece belongs to Motta’s ongoing Matéria Sensível series, a body of work that investigates how matter can hold, transmit, and respond to invisible forces such as memory, emotion, and spiritual presence. Combining natural wood, metal, and resin, the sculpture explores the tension between solidity and vibration. The spherical forms act as symbolic centers of energy, while the surrounding structure suggests a body in a state of subtle movement — suspended between weight and lightness, stability and transformation. Rather than presenting matter as inert, the work proposes material as something alive, porous, and sensitive to its environment. The images shown include both work-in-progress photographs and visual representations of the final sculpture. Each sculpture is individually completed by the artist following purchase, ensuring the integrity of the original concept while preserving the natural variations inherent to handcrafted production. Matéria que Sente reflects Motta’s broader artistic research into perception, presence, and the unseen forces that shape physical form, positioning the sculpture as both a visual object and a meditative field of experience. Each sculpture is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity issued by the artist.
