About the Item
A large sculptural ceramic vessel by British potter Alan Wallwork (1931 to 2016).
The vessel has a grooved crescent form in neutral brown tones, with turquoise glaze to the interior. It is in very nice vintage condition with slight asymmetry, as one might expect from the hand-crafting process. Dates from the late 1900s or early 2000s, and is incised "AW" to base.

Alan Wallwork was born in 1931, and studied art at Goldsmiths College in London. In the late 1950s he set up a workshop in Forest Hill, London, sharing with another pottery artist, Bernard Rooke.
