About the Item
Superb diorama sculpture by Serge Mansau simulating a freeze-frame on a vintage television set. On the outside of the thermoformed glass, at the center of the screen, the word 'End' appears. Inside, when the eye crosses this barrier, an image of a film's ending unfolds. A look into another world, inaccessible and protected. Made of glass simulations of riverbed stones imprinted with ferns, and the small figure of a man, cosmonaut in this strange world.
The sculpture lights up.
In very good condition.
Dimensions in cm ( H x L x l ) : 38 x 49.5 x 11.3
Serge Marcel Mansau (born June 28, 1930, in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, and died February 11, 2019, in Houdan) was a French sculptor and designer, specialized and known for his creations in the perfume industry.
A student of Charles Dullin, Mansau worked in the 1960s for Helena Rubinstein. Initially hired to create window displays for beauty products, he transitioned to designing perfume bottles after expressing criticism about the existing designs.
Mansau collaborated with numerous prestigious perfume houses, including Lancôme, Rochas, Cartier, Dior, Montana, Givenchy, Guy Laroche, Kenzo, and Hermès.
He also worked with the Daum manufacture.
