About the Item
This rare small vase was designed by Ingvar Bossler and produced by Gamleby Tenn in Sweden during the early 1930s. Crafted in pewter, the vase reflects the restrained, sculptural approach characteristic of Swedish metalwork from the interwar period.
The stepped, spherical form emphasizes volume and proportion over ornament, positioning the object at the intersection of late Art Deco and emerging modernist ideals. Despite its modest scale, the vase has a strong sculptural presence and reads as an object conceived as much for contemplation as for function.
Early works by Bossler for Gamleby Tenn are scarce, and examples from this period are particularly uncommon. Some pieces, including this vase, are stamped with both the maker and the designer’s name.
