Antique 16th-century yellow marble mortar from Torri del Benaco, chiseled by hand from a single piece of marble and with the presence of two handles to facilitate its use. Mortars were used not only to pound spices and herbs for culinary use but also to prepare medicinal-pharmaceutical compounds.
