About the Item

Late 19th century Continental carved walnut bear / cigar holder. In the style of Black Forest, German, Possibly Russian. The complex form of a classic dancing bear on hind legs. Standing on a base with a drum, tambourine and musical instruments. The expressive bear with an open mouth and bearing its teeth, with a detailed belt around its middle. The drum is an open container for cigars.

    Repaired: Old minor losses and a chip with a repair to attached vessel / holder. Old repairs, all stable and hardly noticeable. This is over 100 years old and used as a cigar holder... Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Extremely fine carved details, similar to a good animal bronze.
