About the Item
This regal antique eagle wall sculpture was crafted in France, circa 1880. The hand carved eagle features an imposing stance, with its wings spread wide open and its talons gripping a branch. The carving is detailed, with individually defined feathers and a textured surface. The design and form of the bird resemble traditional heraldic or patriotic motifs, reminiscent of European decorative carvings used in governmental, military, or architectural settings. The avian wall decor is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina and gilt accents throughout. Hanging hooks on back for easy installation.
