About the Item
A rare and charming life-size model of a seated dog in buff terracotta, with head turned and an inquisitive expression on his face. He has clearly spent all his life indoors as the condition is very good and has a smooth built up patina over the whole surface.
This superb well sculpted model of terracotta dog was crafted and signed by the well-known 19th century atelier of Jean Garouste in Castelnaudary in Southwestern France.
