About the Item
This elegant vintage plaster sculpture depicts a jaguar in motion; head slightly lowered, placing one foot in front of the other with perfect equilibrium. Built in France in the 20th century, the design reflects the Art Deco movement’s fascination with big cats — their fluid movements and muscular grace. The surface of the plaster has been painted to resemble patinated metal. This dark finish, inflected with subtle touches of dark green and ferrous red, evokes the animal’s silky pelt and accentuates the beautifully rendered lines of the form.
