Sculpture "Elephant", c. 1960
A pioneer of kinetic art in Brazil, Abraham Palatnik created this rare Elephant sculpture in the 1960s as part of his Home and Farm series. Made of black pigmented polyester resin, the piece is signed on the base and bears its original vintage label ("Made in Brazil"). Though small in scale, this elegant form reflects Palatnik’s groundbreaking exploration of light, movement, and material. Known for integrating engineering with visual art, Palatnik developed a unique language that positioned him at the forefront of Latin American modernism. His animal sculptures are among his most collectible works, charming, precise, and emblematic of his playful yet deeply conceptual approach.
