This magnificent, fine and impressive antique Victorian English cast sterling silver table centrepiece has been realistically modelled in the form of a horse and huntsman. The model is embellished with details replicating the large horse's anatomical features, coat and mane. The saddled and bridled silver horse ornament is stood behind a gentleman figure bearing huntsman attire comprised of a hunting coat, loose breeches, riding boots with spurs and helmet. The exceptional male character grasps the horse's reigns in one hand and a riding crop in the other. Both figures stand to a solid silver base ornamented with a rockwork texture. This antique cast sterling silver model sits to the original painted oak wood plinth base. This magnificent example of Victorian silverware, crafted by the renowned and important London silversmiths John Hunt & Robert Roskell, is the finest example of its type. Condition This antique sterling silver table centrepiece is a magnificent gauge of silver, magnificent quality and in magnificent condition. The cast decoration is all very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the base, in addition to part hallmarks to the tail of the horse and boot of the huntsman all very clear; the hallmarks to the base are struck deeply due to the magnificent gauge of silver. This vintage silver elephant ornament has been embellished with chased details reproducing the fine definition of the elephant's skin and anatomical features. The model is further ornamented with caparison ornamented with scenes depicting a rural setting with iconic wild, indigenous animals. This fabric effect covering is further embellished with a stylised floral motif decorated border and features two-dimensional tassels to the terminals.
