About the Item

Elephant in ceramics Art Deco ceramics refer to ceramic objects produced during the Art Deco era, which was popular in Europe and America during the 1920s and 1930s. These objects are characterized by clear lines, geometric patterns, and vibrant colors. The Art Deco movement was inspired by modern technology and sought to move away from traditional designs. Ceramic artists experimented with new forms and glazes and often incorporated them into large-scale wall tiles, vases, bowls, and other decorative items. German ceramicists also contributed to this movement, particularly the Bauhaus school, founded in Weimar by Walter Gropius in 1919. The Bauhaus ceramicists emphasized the function of design and favored simple, clean lines and minimalist forms. One well-known German ceramicist who contributed to the Art Deco movement is Wilhelm Wagenfeld. He designed a range of ceramic and glass objects that are now considered icons of Art Deco. Art Deco ceramics are still highly valued today and are sought after by collectors and enthusiasts worldwide.
