About the Item

A scarce and stylish antique Austrian art pottery model of a pug dog naturaslistically cold painted and applied with glass eyes and dating from around 1900. The hand modelled terracotta figure portrays the dog seated with its tailed curled and resting on its back and with its head turned slightly to one side. The dog has wonderful proportions and is very well modelled with excellent facial abd body features and benefits from having been extremely well cold painted in naturalistic colors with a mottled and shaded brown tone with darker features. The dog also has inset glass eyes. The figure is indistinctly marked under the glaze and is an exceptional example. Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market In good condition with natural wear associated with age and use.
