About the Item
A stunning and rare Bretby early Art Deco pottery figure of a crouching tiger by Henry Tooth and dating from around 1915. The heavily potted and hand-crafted figure portrays the tiger standing mounted on a rock work base and crouching in a hunting position. The tiger is well formed, and hand crafted with incised stripe patterning and good facial features. The figure is decorated in rich brown glazes and has impressed makers sunburst mark to the base along with an impressed number 2280.
Provenance: Acquired from the British Art Market.
In good condition with wear associated with age and use.
