Small ceramic art sculpture with a lion in egg hatching. Small realistic lion hatching egg sculpture. It is clay base ceramic and hand painted in vibrant colors, realistic and intricate high quality and detailed designs on the lion. There are cracks and openings that the artist painted onto the sculpture. Ceramic sculpture in egg depicting a lion breaking free from an egg. Signed on the side egg. This would make an amazing addition to any Mexican art pottery collection. It is such a whimsical sculpture. Every piece is an original piece of art, one of a kind. Dimensions: Height: 4.25 in Diameter: 3.25 in. Created and hand painted by an artist in Mexico. Signed Xochipilli Mexico. Xochipilli (meaning “Prince of Flowers” in Nahuatl) was a god associated with pleasure, flowers, sexuality, and the arts of poetry, painting, writing, and song. Many archeologists believe he was first worshipped during the years of the Teotihuacan civilization, but was later adopted by the Aztecs.
