About the Item
A very finely made pair antique Chinese porcelain blanc de chine figures of hawks dating from the early qing period and from the 18th century, possibly from the Kangxi reign. The figures are both perched on hollow rock work formed bases both with one leg resting on a lower perch and another folding underneath the body and resting on an upper perch. The birds are exceptionally well detailed with fine feather and plumage detail and both with crisp and well defined head and facial features. The hawks hold their heads facing in opposite directions. The hawks are not marked.
Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art market.
Both are in good presentable condition however one has some discolored restoration, well executed to the base and the other has a small area of restoration to the underside of the tail feathers with some minor areas of staining. Nonetheless a stunning pair and wonderful display pieces.
