About the Item
Scarce large "Pondus the Penguin" bank made from red earthenware pottery by Danish factory Knabstrup, circa 1960s. This is a charming and very collectible piece that is in very good vintage condition and has the original key. #3544
Pondus was a character from a Danish children's book written by Ivar Myrhoj in 1966.
This item was made for "Landsmandsbanken", a Danish Bank, and was used as a marketing item to new customers in the 1960s. Presumably given away on opening a bank account or for reaching a savings milestone etc.
Knabstrup pottery mark to base.
Item remains in very good original condition with no damage or restoration.
