Celebrate the proud emblem of France with this impressive early 20th-century cast-iron rooster sculpture, crafted in France circa 1920. This antique figure is rendered in a bold, heavily textured modeling style, giving the rooster outstanding presence and movement. Standing proudly atop a naturalistic rocky base, the bird displays richly layered feathers, a pronounced comb, expressive wattles, and sharply defined talons that elevate the sense of realism. The deeply sculpted tail feathers curve dramatically behind the body, adding height and sculptural drama.
Cast in solid iron, the piece features a dark brown patinated surface with subtle variations that highlight the rugged texture of the form. The underside shows the expected open casting aperture typical of early French iron foundry work.
