About the Item

This gorgeous item in the image is the famous Chinese Tang Horse sculpture. Many Chinese artists reached the pinnacle of their careers during the Tang Dynasty. Horse figurines from this period were particularly popular. Along with sacrificial vessels, food, ceramic camels, and figures of dancers, horse figurines were also placed in tombs, in the hope of a more peaceful afterlife for the deceased. Even today, the horse figurines of the Tang Dynasty, also known as "sacred horses," are considered exceptionally beautiful horse sculptures. It is hand-crafted and hand painted in about 1920 - 1940s with exquisite detail. Some cracks on the back and one leg. Overall it is in good antique condition with normal age wears.
