About the Item
A journey in bronze 'Going to the River', features two Kudu Bulls. One of the most recognisable silhouettes of the African bush my latest sculpture pays homage to this magnificent beast. Tall, corkscrew horns that can grow up to 1.8 metres, twisting 2.5 times at full length.
Majestic and composed, two kudu bulls make their steady way to the river, their spiral horns reaching skyward like living sculptures of the African wilderness. This piece captures not only their physical grace—the taut musculature, the rhythm of their stride—but also the quiet dignity for which kudu are revered. Rendered in bronze, each detail reflects the enduring spirit of Africa’s great antelope, a timeless homage to both strength and serenity in the wild.
Limited edition of 12 in cast bronze
I am a self-taught South African artist whose work is inspired by Africa’s wildlife, landscapes, and people. My years as a safari guide gave me an intimate connection to the bush — a place that taught me everything I know about shape, form, and movement. You can’t sculpt what you don’t feel, and every moment spent observing wildlife offers a lesson in balance, grace, and presence.
I am drawn to bronze — an ancient material with a living surface that changes, deepens, and gains character over time, much like the landscapes and creatures that inspire me. Each patina adds its own mood and individuality, ensuring every piece carries its own quiet story.
My work ranges from bird, wildlife, figurative, abstract to African sculpture and bespoke sculptural furniture and lighting. Each piece is entirely handcrafted — sculpted, cast, chased, and patinated by me in my own foundry using the traditional lost-wax method.
Every creation reflects Africa’s beauty, strength, and spirit — enduring in material and authentic in character.
