About the Item

Large French Art Deco Sculpture by Irénée Rochard – Doe and Her Fawn. This exquisite Art Deco sculpture is titled “Doe and Her Fawn” . Rare in this size and model. This elegant piece is a stunning representation of nature, featuring a doe and her fawn in a delicate pose, captured in remarkable detail. The sculpture is masterfully crafted from a combination of spelter, marble, pink alabaster, metal, and chrome. The use of high-quality materials, particularly antique alabaster, gives the piece a timeless beauty. The veins of the alabaster are a characteristic of aged stone, and while they may sometimes appear as cracks, they are natural veins that enhance the uniqueness of the sculpture. Dimensions: Width: 59 cm (23.2 inches) Height: 46 cm (18 inches) Depth: 25 cm (9.85 inches) Weight: ~26 kgs This sculpture is in excellent condition, with only some minor, usual, pitting on the alabaster rim, adding to its charm and authenticity. It is signed "I. Rochard" on the base, confirming its provenance and adding to its value as a collectible work of art. Irénée Rochard was a renowned French animal sculptor known for his dynamic and realistic depictions of animals in the Art Deco style. After studying at the Beaux-Arts et des Arts Décoratifs, Rochard created animal sculptures, including horses, gazelles and panthers. His works have been featured in leading collections around the world, including Paris and New York. Throughout his career, Rochard received numerous awards, including the Gold Medal of the Colonial Exhibition (1931), the Gold Medal of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts (1952), and the prestigious Édouard-Marcel Sandoz Prize for Animal Sculpture (1981). His works remain highly regarded by collectors of Art Deco sculpture and are a testament to his mastery of form and material. Key Features: Signed "I.
