About the Item

apanese bronze tiger from the Meiji period, featuring a warm brown-red patina. The piece is crafted to a high standard, modelled with realistic proportions in a dynamic forward-moving pose with an open mouth, defined musculature, detailed fur texture, and inlaid glass eyes. Signed with a stamped mark on the underside. Japan, Meiji period (1852–1912) The stamped mark appears to consist of two kanji characters, likely reading Mori-zō (森造), meaning “made by Mori.” This type of maker’s mark is typical for Japanese bronze works from the Meiji period, although the specific workshop or artist cannot be identified with certainty based on the stamp alone
