About the Item
A striking and sculptural pair of large, life-size crane figures, hand-forged from iron in Finland. These cranes are entirely unique—no other examples were made beyond this pair.
Designed as garden sculptures, they are intended to be installed by inserting the legs directly into the ground, allowing them to stand freely and naturally in an outdoor setting. The craftsmanship is exceptional, with expressive posture and fine hand-worked details throughout. One crane is depicted with a lifted leg, giving the pair a dynamic and lifelike presence.
Their true-to-life scale and substantial weight make them especially impressive in person—something that may not be fully conveyed in photographs alone. A remarkable example of Nordic metalwork and an eye-catching artistic statement for a garden, landscape, or architectural environment.
The maker is believed to be Taidetakomo Hakkarainen, based on stylistic and technical characteristics; however, there is no documentation or maker’s marks present, and the attribution cannot be confirmed with certainty.
