About the Item

A superb large pair of Italian handmade terracotta seated classical lions, circa 1910 A most impressive and appealing pair of large scale classical seated lions are handmade in mellow terracotta. A true pair with slight individual differences from the artistic licence of the sculptor. These beautiful decorative pieces were originally made as outside items for a warmer climate and they show interesting and characterful signs of exposure to the elements with natural discolouring and patination. These highly decorative pieces have spent many of their latter years indoors in this country and now display a dry satin-like finish to some places through being handled and household dusting giving a very pleasing look and finish. This wonderful pair of lions would be best suited for internal decoration as they could be suspectable to Frost damage with our very cold winters. Height 47cm x width 50cm x depth 30cm.
